In the center of the square, in front of the berninian fountain stands the Church of St. Agnes in Agone, built by the architect Rainaldi and Borromini; it represents a magnificent example of a Baroque building. Inside the church you can see the Tomb Monument of Pope Innocent X, erected in the church above the main entrance in 1729 and a shrine of Saint Agnes, containing her skull. Piazza Navona is one of the most frequented places in Rome, many tourists and Romans meet here every evening and stay until late at night, moving from a club of the neighborhood to the many kinds of restaurants or wine shops in the area.
